If it is a word that you encounter regularly, experiment with the dictionary.

Subject: [nvda] Pronunciation quirk followup
Hello all:
I just wanted to clarify the email I sent last night about pronunciation
quirks. It's not about switching from, say, english to french when the
synthesizer encounters a foreign phrase, it's simply about eloquence, espeak,
etc being able to reasonably accurately pronounce the words. I had jaws 10 on
my pc a while back and el the eloquence synth version used in that program
rarely, if ever had these issues, where the words had accents it adjusted
pronunciation appropriately. NVDA is great and this is not any criticism
against it. I think this may be because jaws has a newer, and possibly improved
version of eloquence, and possibly the custom api that controlls the
eloquence synth. Is there anything that I can do, or that can be done to help
this? I suppose espeak could be improved, or perhaps I could add entries in the
speech dictionary but I normally only use it if I absolutely cannot live with
the speech. Eloquence cannot be changed except by adding entries.
This is not a compleint.
Any help would be appreciated.
