[nvda] Processor usage

I'm intrigued about something, though I expect I'll regret asking.
nvda only uses about 10 to 20 percent of processor resources according to
the task manager, however, if say, Windows media player is running in the
background, the usage of nvda goes up to more than double this in some
cases.. This seems odd as at most only a couple of percent are added for,
say Outlook Express.
What is going on here?
