This should work just fine.

Correct. I would also use -n to stop it from dropping into the
background, as otherwise, you have to kill it from task manager.
I agree with you that the Alva driver may cause the problem, because I
have problems with Jaws too; sometimes the USB driver isn't recognized
by the system.
I actually meant BRLTTY's Alva driver under Windows.

I agree with you that the Alva driver may cause the problem, because I have problems with Jaws too; sometimes the USB driver isn't recognized by the system.
