  Hi Abilio!

Welcome to the list! We have nationwide access at libraries here in New
Zealand (Aotearoa), and we are currently working hard to get it into Australia
as well. I have also recently had a query from another country and am waiting
until next week to see how that goes. In Portugal, do the public libraries have
internet access? Are they all connected (that is, on one network)? What is the
main public institution that you would use over there? This is what has
happened over here... We have access if we take our usb pen stick/drive with a
portable version of NVDA on it, to the library, plug it into the usb port on
the computer, and using headphones listen to it. With the portable version you
can keep your releases updated regularly.

If you go to the NVDA website link above, look at the ones called articles in
the press. You will see how it happened here in NZ. Also, down the page , under
as used by organisations, you will see the Aotearoa Peoples Network (NZ library
network) and on their website it says phases. The program has been made
accessible in phases (or stages) bit by bit. Basically, you need to know who
manages your national library network's software installations on the library's
computers, and whether or not they are willing to install it. Your local
librarian should be able to tell you who to get in touch with. If the software
is being blocked there may be a link to the people on the pc. You amy need a
sighted person to write down the error message and the phone number or email of
the people who can fix it and get NVDA installed for you.

This is the link for the libraries here. Here, we had no problems because it
is a good programme and even better still it was a free one! Our local
librarian was very helpful, and the people who run the computers were great.
Some people however are hesitant in allowing access to the software, if they do
not understand the software, so be patient with them. I believe that this is a
first for anything like this (national access for a screen reader on such a
huge scale).

        Hello everybody,
        This is Abílio from Portugal.
My friends, I've been using this wonderful screen reader for 6 months.
I
really enjoy nvda and I am using as much as I can. Evrytime I introduce
Nvda
to new people. My friend to use nvda as my unic reader it it is
necessary
it to work with it's own cursor or something like it.
Do you think it will be possible in a short future?
Wish one day I could sugest to public institutions in my country to use
nvda
        and not comercial software.
Now I just want to deeply thank nvda team for all its work.
I wish you all good luck and my best wishes for everyone.
        Abílio
