I'm thinking you're talking about lightning.  That's nice, but I've invested
a lot of time getting Outlook to do what I want, and I want to spend my time
doing my business, not learning more software.

I don't think so yet, a few people use mozilla thunder bird 3 what ever 
the latest version is.  And they down load a plug in I think it is for 
it, that gives you access to a calander, event thingy etc as well.  It 
just depends if you want to go that way.  But most if not all of mozilla 
products seem to be accessible.
