[nvda] Re: NVDA now my default screen reader

Yes, in the main there are two ways to make other screenreaders switch in and out. I use batch files to load and unload each in turn, but you can in some readers, including nvda. swith to silent mode where most of the guts are disabled to let the other reader have the control so to speak.

That's good that you are now comfortable with NVDA I been using NVDA as my default screen reader for almost a yer now and I like very much.

Hi Peter

A few months ago, I was in the same situation.
I operate three computers, here in my basement office.
Two are laptops, one is a recent addition dell desktop of the Precision
line.
On the desktop, I have only NVDA.
I wanted to hear what others were saying about NVDA and more
importantly, practice using it for a while.
I am, like you, ready to replace jaws on my other two machines.
It's a very old version of jaws anyway and, doesn't work with the latest
applications.
I had to decide if I wanted to spend the $800 to $1,000 for jaws or
window eyes.
Again, like you, I found NVDA adequate for the computer work that I do.
So, I plan to donate regularly and, support the NVDA developers and, to
join this email group to learn and, on occasion, contribute some ideas.

Take Care,
Mario

Having bbeen a Window-eyes user for about ten and a half years, an have
the
latest version, I have decided that as NVDA does practically everything
I
use my PC for, I have taken the plunge and made NVDA run from startup.
