[nvda] Re: NVDA And Key Labels For Windows

I don't know (obviously) but I'd have thopugh they need is the URI of the link target or the image source. That's typically generic information. (Credit card info for example shouldn't be in a URI.)

hmmm, I just read the privacy policy for Freedom box and I think I have a few
questions in fact of what information is sent through the freedom box proxy
server. For instance, suppose you are on a secure website and you just got
done filling out your credit card info for an online purchase, then you decide
to label the graphics on that site. Exactly what information is sent back to
freedom box? All information on the page or just the links and graphics? If
freedom box does not have an off screen model then would it not just send back
all the information including credit card numbers and other personal info?

they do it through a centralized server. Whenever you visit a website using freedom box it sends the website you are on to a central server, then compares it to the labels it has in the server database and sends the labeling info back to your screen reader.. Now when you label a website in freedom box, it sends that info to the server and compares it with others that have been labeled and after it is checked to be valid, it becomes available to the community of freedom box users. ----- Original Message ----- From: trenton matthews To: nvda@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, May 06, 2007 11:26 AM

I do wonder how the folks that make freedombox can label links without
using a video intersept. Quite amazing how they do it!

Hmmm I need to read things a bit closer :). Yeah that was the question I
asked on my original post. Hopefully by putting the vocal feedback in the
default script for NVDA the cut copy and paste will speak in any app. But yeah
the labeling of graphics and links would require an off screen model similar to
Jaws video intercept.

As far as I am aware NVDA already says the accelerator keys for most
things like that, and as far as labeling graphics and links, that would require
having an off screen model similar to Jaws video intercept.

Would there be a problem to label key commands such as: "Control+c" for copy "control+x" for cutting, "control+v" for pasting? Also, for keys like in word, "control+e" centering text, "control+b" bolding text which NVDA would have to figure out a way to read the graphic which turns it on and off, "control+u" for underline, which has the toggle effect, "control+a" to select all, which is in every applatication almost, "control+f4" for closing a word document, "control+o" to open a file, "control+p" for printing in any application, "control+n" for new, etc. Also, this topic may have been covered, however would there be a way to label links, and different keys manually, then people could just pass files around?
Kinda like a "key label" dictionary" as window-eyes calls it? Or links dictionary,
for internet links, just like in Freedom Box, as they call it, the "Seasaw" project?"
