[nvda] Re: Issues with Thunderbird 2.x

Hello,

I just wanted to write an e-mail with TB 2.x, and I observed 2 issues:
1. When writing the subject, NVDA always repeats the already typed in
text. I would expect to hear the keyecho, which I've set to "letters". A
few weeks ago we had the same issue in Orca with TB 3.x.
Unfortunatelly thunderbird 2.X is not fully accessible on windows. The most problematic are edit fields. It is not possible to get the cursor's position thus the only thing NVDA can speak is the whole text or nothing.
2. When writing text in the message body, I cannot read it at all. I
hear the typed letters echoed, but that's all. I would expect to read
the text in order to correct it.
Yes the only difference to the point 1 is that message imput area is a custom window which is not mapped to the edit NVDA object. perhaps you can read something by using object navigation but really this can't be made more accessible. The only accessible version of thunderbird which runs relativelly well in combination with NVDA is thunderbird 3.
