[nvda] Re: Is there a way to get nvda to start with out asking

Hi all,

Given the number of questions we have on this topic and the confusion surrounding it, I've just posted a rather detailed article on running NVDA automatically from a USB drive:
http://www.nvda-project.org/wiki/RunningAutomaticallyFromAUSBDrive
The article is somewhat longer than one might hope, but unfortunately, this is actually quite a complex topic and there are many variables that affect the result. I have attempted to provide quick instructions, as well as more in-depth information for those that care regarding why AutoRun doesn't work in certain cases and how U3 drives are different. It also includes an autorun.inf file.

Feedback is of course welcome. Feel free to point anyone asking this question in future at this article.

Note that this article refers to another article posted by someone else: RunningNVDAFromAnU3Drive. This article uses a different U3 launcher and provides instructions to set it up using JAWS. I understand the original poster's reasons for doing this. Nevertheless, it'd be great if someone could discover and document a friendlier way of doing this, perhaps without erasing the U3 Launchpad for those that don't want to do this.

Jamie

Hi, I have had some problems getting nvda to run from the auto run file in
windows vista.
This isn't a fault of the file, it is because vista asks other questions at
times. This means I have to start narrator to move to nvda.
Is there a way to get the auto run file to automatically choose and start nvda
when you insert the flash drive?
Mike.
