Angus,I take it you have Java in the first place. If you don't know, you can go to java..com and check the validity of anything you have installed already, and get an update if need be.
Get that installed, install the access Bridge, and Open Office, and at this stage Open Office still won't be accessible.
However, open one of the modules, such as Writer, and try these keystrokes. Alt T for Tools menu O for Options Press Down arrow 10 times. This gets you to Accessibility. Press Alt-A to engage the accessibility functions. Press enter to say OK.Exit Open Office now (Alt F for file, x for Exit). If you get a warning beep, press Alt-D to discard any document changes you may have inadvertently made.
Now start Open Office Writer or one of the other programs in OO again, and with any luck the menus will speak, and away you go.
It doesn't look as if Open Office is developing very fast, so I don't know whether this obscure way of getting it to work will ever change.

I am using Snapshot 2877. I downloaded the JAVA Access Bridge 2.0.1 for Windows. And then downloaded and installed OpenOffice 3.0. OpenOffice and NVDA do not seem to work well so I uninstalled the JAVA Access Bridge and Open Office. Is their something I need to do when I try reinstalling the JAVA Access Bridge and Open Office again?Angus MacKinnon To post messages to the list send email to nvda@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To modify your NVDA Email settings go to: http://www.freelists.org/list/nvdaThank you for your continued support of Nonvisual Desktop Access, an open source free screen reader for Microsoft Windows:http://www.nvda-project.org/ To get the latest NVDA snapshot: http://www.nvda-project.org/snapshots/ Report bugs or make feature requests at: http://trac.nvda-project.org/ Message Archive: http://www.freelists.org/archives/nvda
