Subject: [nvda] Re: Info on generating error logs with NVDA, please

how do I use it if it is over-written? I will need to copy the log
before restarting NVDA? Using another reader? What is the exact path to
copy the log-file if what I have said is all more or less correct?
(assuming a standard installation)
Or can I restart NVDA, copy the error file, as it is not over written
until another error occurs?

hi, the logging level checkbox sets the amount of information nvda logs.
info is the default and only general information such as synthesizer
being used, nvda version, etc are logged. errors are always logged. but
if you want more detailed logging you can set it to either debug or
debugWarning. debug is the most verbose, with the exception of
input/output, which you don't want. the nvda log is in the temparary
folder in windows and is overridden whenever nvda restarts but you can
look at it at any time by going to the view log item in the tools menu.
what the difference between debug and debugWarning is I'm not exactly sure.
hope this helps

Okay, most of my time heretofore has been learning to use NVDA
keystrokes and I have not delved into the world of debugging much
except to report my surface experiences with different versions. Now I
have a question about how to generate and capture error logs, so
excuse my ignorance in this regard. I note that in the general
settings of NVDA there are several options for log-on level, including
one called debug. Do I need to set NVDA to debug to generate an error
log and where does the log reside? Thanks.
