[nvda] Re: ESpeak

And could each update to the .dll file be posted to the NVDA download page?
Ok. There has been a flood of conversation on this topic, so I'm going to try to clarify some points. * Currently, the NVDA build of eSpeak is in our code repository. Updating this frequently is impractical because of the amount of space it wastes in the repository. In addition, there is no point in duplicating this data in our own repository. Eventually, when I write the new automatic build system, it will include the ability to grab third party dependencies and build them separately without them needing to be in our repository. I do not know when this will happen. * This said, because the new build system is a while away, we may update the eSpeak in our repository some time soon. This needs to be discussed. * Unless there are actually some major changes that people are really interested in or excited about, there is little point posting to the list to inform us that there is a new version of eSpeak, especially if it is a point release. If you are going to notify the list, at least include a summary of the changes you find interesting. You can find these in the SourceForge release notes for the download. * If you really want to try a later build of eSpeak, install the SAPI 5 version and play with that.

To reiterate: We will eventually ensure that our eSpeak release is up to date, but it isn't practical to keep updating it every time there is a point release. These are trunk snapshots for a reason.
