John, I imported all my favorites from ff it's hard to access them. On 22/03/2011 16:41, John Greer wrote:I have also been using NVDA with Firefox 4 for quite some time too. There are some things that are different from FF3 but accessibility on it seems to be ok with NVDA for the most part. On 3/22/2011 11:37 AM, Kevan P. wrote:Does NVDA work with FireFox 4? On 3/22/11, John Greer<jpgreer@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:Actually you can do so with the following: To add a bookmark, press control+D It pops up a dialog asking you to name it etc.You should be able to tab through the controls in this dialog and add abookmark just fine. Once you have some bookmarks added, bring up the bookmarks bar. To bring up the bookmark bar, press control+shift+BWhen you have the bookmark bar active, you can press alt+shift+B and it will put focus in the bookmark bar. If you tab around there, you should see the bookmarks you have saved. Choose the bookmark you want and press enter. The only issue I see is there is no audio feedback to tell you ifthe bookmark bar is opened or closed. It would be nice to see if NVDA can say something like bookmark bar opened, bookmark bar closed or something like that. However you can still tell if the bookmark bar is open or not by pressing alt+shift+B, and if nothing happens such as it focusing on a bookmark, then it is obviously closed. On 21/03/2011 18:52, Kennydog wrote:Hi there Nvda only has initial support for google chrome. You needed to download a copy of it I think it ws called the developers copy. Last time I tried it I could jump around by headings etc but needed work on edit fields etc. Not sure it that is work to be done by chrome or the nvda developers. But they will get there. Your old version of jaws probably will ot work with chrome no support.Nvda will work with internet explorer, mozilla firefox, sea monkey andflock. There may be more, but not sure. Full support for chrome will get there sooner or later. Gene nz On 22/03/2011 2:43 a.m., Mario Mannea wrote:Hi All I recently downloaded Chrome because, well, I had to. I'm using a very old version of jaws i.e 5.3 which in turn, forces me to use an outdated version of i e il.e 6.1. This version of jaws does not work well with Chrome. I've yet to download nvda, since I'm waiting to put together a new desktop for that purpose. It would be useful to know how nvda works with Chrome. By the way, I assume we're talking about google, chrome. Mario -----Original Message-----From: nvda-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:nvda-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] OnBehalf Of Brian Gaff Sent: Monday, March 21, 2011 6:31 AM To: nvda@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [nvda] Chrome etc I recently happened upon the comments below about this browser, and as it contains a lot of useful links I decided to post it here. Note that although nvda is mentioned, on reading more of the stuff on the access groups on Google, it looks like most of the reporters are using the Apple version with voice over, so it would not go amiss if those whith the inclination and the time, something I'm a little short of at the moment, could add nvda problems as well. starts here... I'm starting a new topic to talk about Chrome for anyone who's interested. As I said before, you can try it today with NVDA or VoiceOver, and we'll let you know as soon as support for other screen readers is ready. Chrome has three channels: stable, beta, and dev. While the stable versionis recommended for most users, please use the dev channel version foraccessibility. The reason is that it's the most up-to-date, and when we fix a bug or add a new feature for screen reader support, you'll be able to try it out in just a few days. Click here for the link to download the dev channel version: http://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel On Windows, use F6 to focus the main toolbar and other accessible toolbars and panes. You can find more keyboard shortcuts here:http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/static.py?page=guide.cs&guide=25799&topic=28650 Bug reports are the most helpful if you let me know the URL of the page you were visiting when you had the problem. - Dominic The edit field bug has been fixed - it should work when the dev channel version is next updated. In the meantime, there's a temporary workaround: type at least one character into the field, press Tab to focus something else, then Shift+Tab to focus the edit field again - then it should work great, you'll get proper feedback as you type, move the cursor, or select. We'll definitely improve the sluggishness over time. I think we've already improved it a bit over the version released now. Thanks for reporting the problem with the initial search engine select dialog. I filed a new bug for this and we'll fix it soon. http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=76834 You also found a problem with the window that tells you to type locationsand to search from the location bar. This window is a tip pop-up thatonly appears the first time Chrome starts; I filed another bug for this one: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=76835Once that tip is closed, and every time you start Chrome from now on,everything in the toolbar should be accessible - could you be more specific about wasn't working or what was confusing? - Dominic This account only receives email from the list.
