I just had an error while in Firefox 3, which  preceded a crash of
Firefox shortly thereafter. However, I've not been able to duplicate it
by running the two in the same way on the same machine.
There is a crash bug in Firefox at present which is triggered by some earlier revisions of NVDA. NVDA no longer triggers this crash in normal usage as of a week orso ago, although it is still possible to cause the crash by poking around with the navigator in a certain way, so it needs to be fixed in Firefox. I filed a bug against Firefox, so hopefully, it will be fixed eventually once they work out what is causing it. If you care, it is bug 429030 in Mozilla's Bugzilla.
