NVDA really should be showing blank lines where blank lines ought to
be. I don't understand why it isn't for some users; it might be an
issue with the MSHTML text code. We may implement a skip blank lines
option, but right now, it isn't implemented, so any such behaviour is
actually a bug.
I've to add an observation to this: The braille display is not updated
when writing text in Word (part of Office 2000).
First the title bar is shown in the cursor line and it does not
disappear when writing and inserting some line feeds. While continuing
to type the title bar disappears, but line feeds are not ending in a
blank line; the last line stays on the braille display and new lines
show up as two empty spaces.
Note: This doesn't happen in Notepad and Wordpad.
Hermann
