Re: [nvda-translations] leaflet to promote NVDA

Hi Jim,

Yes indeed this is exactly what i intended with the email that was sent earlier
in the month, subject: support nvda or lose it.
But then many of them wanted to eat my flesh for breakfast. It is this exact
understanding of self determination that some
people are failing to understand. Of course there will be people who can not
donate, but at least write to your blind union to
say how good NVDA is. Some people are not even bothered to do that.

Of course there are good people who take their responsibility seriously and
donate good amounts regularly, but it doesnt make
up for those that are not acting.

I dont know if paypal also breaks down the donations by country, but it would
be intresting to see if the
ratios still hold. Even if america+canada and the europian countries donated we
would be able to maintain nvda at a good
level. I say that because international bank transfers from some parts of
asia+middle east and africa can be quite expensive.

The reason why i wanted a good leaflet is so that we can bypass all the
ignorant blind people, and try to go directly to the
bigger blind organizations, and give them the facts as they are.
The leaflet is not aimed just at organizations, but also any possibly sighted
or those who have their heart in the right
place. We should not exclude the blind user from also taking his/her
responsibility.

Yes I have also done the maths long ago, and agree with you completely about
wanting to hire another programmer or
administrator, but if we cant even keep Jamie and Mick working for us then
there is something seriously wrong with our
community.

I even suggested doing something fun in their physical communities, such as
running to do fundraising or tandem cycling or
whatever they wanted to do, anything to get the donations up.

Thanks again for taking this issue seriously.
