Well not by 30 but 10 will do. The AB's retain the Bledisloe for the 9th year running. And 13 test matches in a row against Australia that New Zealand have won. Stats from the beginning. 162 test matches, 112 to NZ, 45 to AUS and 5 draws.. shucks!!!! we're good..... hic! ok Beer goggle are on So after 5/9 matches in Tri Nation 2010 NZ on 19, AUS on 4, SA on 0. NZ play SA next but even if NZ loses AUS would have to win every match with a bonus point to equal NZ and I'm not sure what happens then. Maybe it will be a play off in Hong Kong. The game started out great with both sides looking like they were going to play exciting rugby in the first 20. But then both teams looked pretty flat until about the 50th minute. NZ were better in defence often pushing the attacking Wallabies back. But they lacked at the break down allowing the Aussies to capitalise with turn over ball. But the Aussies just couldn't do anything with it. I remember in my rugby playing days and the great thing about playing rugby it's an all-weather game. My favourite was playing in the rain and big puddles and lots of mud. Which always turned into a competition on how far you could slide the opposition into the spectators. Or sliding into the goal from a couple of meters out. I don't think snow will worry the AB's but it might be a tad frigid for the Wallabies, especially the Queenslanders. Should be a great game, we having dinner early so I can watch the pre-game wind up. To tell the truth I think the Wallabies will come out fighting they will be a lot tougher to beat than last week. Still AB's by 30 For the latest from both camps.. http://www.allblacks.com/ http://www.rugby.com.au/ Cheers,CS Rob From: nswnra-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:nswnra-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Paul McGuiness Sent: Friday, 6 August 2010 18:41 To: nswnra@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [nswnra] Re: Clear Skies 04/08/2010 Thanks for the pics Rob. Looks great, counterweight taking all the strain off it. I'll search out some plans when I have more time. I hope Robbie Deans has tough hide, he'll need it. May the best team win. One thing for sure, it's sure to be a great game. A few years ago I had a pair of 30x60's and the strain of trying to hold them steady gave me a crook neck. Glen's banana chair idea is better than trying to free hold bino's the size of something like 20x80's steady-ish but I still can't avoid image shake like I can with a para mount. AB's on home tuff, and with a Wallabies coach on home turf oh won't the crowd be dirty lol. AB's by 30 ;^) Cheers,CS Rob Here's a couple of photos of my para mount with dew straps attached. I find the heat off my eyeballs fog up the ep's and the front end attracts dew like a finder scope does. You can sit on a chair or stand whatever you feel like. I use to use it laying on a trampoline. The 20x80's are great but I find holding them for any length of time a real pain, so i don't use them as much I should. Glen's banana lounge idea is OK, but limits you to what patch of sky you can see. Hmmm, clear skies vs rugby. Decisions decisions. Those beer goggles might be needed. You may need them to drown your sorrows when the AB's are flogged. Cheers and good luck for saturday night!! I don't know, it will have to have some premium ply in there I like wood but certainly cut down from the typical obsession style dob. Something that folds up into a large suitcase size that I can throw in the car without having to almost fully dismantle it. When I take the 16" out to Leyburn in September I'll have to put the mirror back in the freight box it came in and split the mirror box from the rocker box plus poles and Secondary cage which I made a padded soft case, will all fit in the car pretty well. Rugby starts at 5:30pm Sat nite : ) might be observing with a grin on my chin.. but probably through some beer goggles lol. Pardon my appalling ignorance, but, what sort of design is a "parallelogram mount". I don't think I have come across one, do you have any pics? There are lots of designs for lightweight scopes, the problem is building enough strength without excess weight. It makes me wish I had some welding skills, just imagine what you could build with a TIG outfit and basic alloy sections. Beats timber and ply for weight and strength. Will keep a lookout if there is a viewing session Saturday or Sunday night. Cheers, Paul. Good to have it back and be able to get around the place, especially when you live out in the boonies Rang Isaac about my mirror it still hasn't been coated yet. Apparently he is waiting on having a jig made up for his machine so not sure when I'll get it back, was hoping to have it by now or at least before new moon. The 8" is a great little scope with no Argo so it's back to star hoping. Still remember enough no to need any charts but it's a bit rough on the old neck though, part of the reason for getting an Argo in the first place. The only annoying thing is everybody is using the fire places of a night. It has me thinking of building a collapsible 12" grab and go scope. Finished modifying my parallelogram mount, so now I can send power up through it while it can freely rotate. Will give it a whirl over the weekend Seems I'd had a dew strap go missing through Aussie post so waiting on a replacement, expecting it to arrive today. Anyways hopefully it will be nice over the weekend, looking forward to another session or two Cheers,CS Rob From: nswnra-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:nswnra-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Paul McGuiness Sent: Thursday, 5 August 2010 21:00 To: nswnra@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [nswnra] Re: Clear Skies 04/08/2010 Hi Rob, Sounds like a good session. We saw most of the list at Glen's also. You are lucky to have a good size reserve scope while the 16" is away. Hope the 16" (and your car) is back together soon. The weather doesn't sound too bad for the weekend. Maybe Saturday night will be OK. We will be in Brisbane again on Saturday (picking up youngest from Airport - been overseas). Haven't heard much from Graham although he has been on IIS a little bit. Cheers, Paul.
