We went to minnie waters on boxing day , but didn’t see the comet again until
thursday morning
It was still quite bright , I took a couple of shots with my film camera (BW
to ) off the beach , not sure if they will turn out .

Tis the reason I've decided to take a break from real astronomy… sh*t weather
that doesn't allow
me to enjoy the wonderful skies above. It seems I pretty much missed out on the
good bits to this
comet although the bit I did see looked excellent all the same. Would have love
to have a real
shot at imaging this one.

The comet is fainter than the Norma Star Cloud now. I put this on IIS.
"The tail is about 26 degrees long this morning. It is hard to tell where it
ends because the tail ends in front of the milky way.
It is easy to see the tail to the right of alpha Cen, and the tail can be seen
to the tight of beta Cen, but that is not easy. The comet is fading. I observed
with 7x50 binoculars, moving them back and forth across the tail. "

Hey Odille,
Should be as an attachment. This list is set to allow up to 5mg attachments.
Are you
sure your email client isn't set to strip them… can be a security feature on
some
clients.
Btw, love your Lovejoy pic too

Cheers Glen,
It was a lot fainter than I expected but still impressive all the same. Here
are
a couple of photos. The street light in one photo is the street light out front
of the French restaurant up near the lookout.

finally got to see it, took a few snaps nothing really spectacular. But naked
eye was excellent. Beautiful and clear up on the Plateau this morning.
I'll try and post a photo later after I try and clean them up a little.

Hi All
I finally caught the comet on film yesterday, and yes, the tail is amazing.
You can see the pic on my blog at http://odillesphotos.wordpress.com/
<http://odillesphotos.wordpress.com/> - the tail is faint but I was very
chuffed to finally see the comet properly (I’ve been up at 2.30 most mornings
hoping for holes in those darned clouds)!
Cheers, Odille

Saw the comet this morning from Gibralter Rd. Clifton about 35 km west of
Tenterfield with 12x60 binocs.
The naked eye tail was 28 degrees long. AMAZING! The comet was brighter than
the Norma star cloud.
Lovejoy will be in front of the Milky Way tomorrrow.
Also saw LJ yesterday from Tenterfiel airport but the head was lost in the haze
and light pollution above Tenterfield.
Used the 16" last night, great views. NGC 1365 was a easy Z shape and I keep
seeing galaxies I have never seen before.
