As Director of Internet Technology and Strategy at IBM, Mike Nelson
manages a team helping define and implement IBM's Next Generation
Internet strategy. His group is working with university researchers
on NGi technology, shaping standards for the NGi, and communicating
IBM's vision of NGi, the Grid, and on demand computing to customers,
policy makers, the press, and the general public. Prior to joining
IBM, Mr. Nelson served as Special Assistant for Information
Technology at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy
where he worked on issues relating to the global information
infrastructure including telecommunications policy, information
technology, encryption, electronic commerce and information policy.
He has also been a professional staff member for the Senate
Subcommittee on Science, Technology and Space and the lead Senate
staffer for the 1991 High-Performance Computing Act.
