TRANSPORTATION AUTOMOBILE AND MOTOR VEHICLE PURCHASING: Lemon Laws Protect
Purchasers of Seriously Defective Automobiles
Lemon laws are laws passed at the state level of government that provide
some help and protection for those who purchase a seriously defective
automobile.
Lemon Law Definition

lemon law definition Basically, lemon laws allow customer to return a
defective car if certain criteria are met. Usually it is very difficult
to persuade the manufacturer to accept the lemon law return, and often the
issue will end up as a lemon lawsuit.

Here is a relatively current publication about lemon laws:
Title: National survey of state laws /
Author(s): Leiter, Richard A.
Corp Author(s): Thomson Gale.
Publication: Detroit : Thomson Gale,
Edition: 4th ed.
Year: 2003
This title is substantially older but may be of interest:
The good, the bad, and the rest
state lemon laws and protection for consumers
Author: Solomon, Steven B.
Publication: [Chicago] : American Bar Association, Section of Litigation,
1995
But these publications aside, there is much about state lemon laws for
automobiles on the internet.
The Better Business Bureau has this dispute resolution page.

the website list, Autopedia also provides this Lemon Law summary page:

This page also provides summaries of these laws

If one wants an organization behind the lemon law coverage and warranty
information on the same site as well there is this choice:
National Lemon Law Center
<http://www.nationallemonlawcenter.com/>
Yahoo Search Directory provides this page for lemon laws:
Consumer Law > Lemon Law
Directory > Government > Law > Consumer > Lemon Law
<http://dir.yahoo.com/government/law/consumer/lemon_law/>
If the car is used, one can turn to this site:
STATES WITH USED CAR LEMON LAWS
<http://www.amiautoworld.com/stories/consumer.cfm?instanceid=21224>
If it turns out that the car is a dog rather than a lemon, one may get
analogous help from this website, or one may find that this site has them
barking up the wrong tree:

The bottom line is that in addition to the Gale publication, one is not
squeezed for information on lemon laws by the content provided on this
subject on the internet for the car that is going to seed.
