The Library of Congress is pleased to announce that HLAS Online
(Handbook of Latin American Studies) is now a Source for OpenURLs.
If your institution has a link resolver, you can configure your system
to embed OpenURL links in HLAS Online search results.
The following document will help system administrators set up
connections between their link resolvers and HLAS Online:

Continuously published since 1935, the Handbook of Latin American
Studies is a bibliography of works about Latin America. Each year, more
than 130 scholars from around the world select and annotate over 5,000
works (articles, books, chapters in books, conference papers, CD-roms,
and web sites) for inclusion in the printed Handbook. Covering the
humanities and social sciences, the Handbook is one of the most highly
regarded bibliographies in Area Studies, offering Latin Americanists an
essential guide to available published resources.
HLAS Online (http://lcweb2.loc.gov/hlas) contains over 300,000
bibliographic records, including all annotated items from the print
editions (volumes 1 (1936) to the present), as well as unannotated
citations (approximately 5,000 additional records per year). OpenURL
links are available for bibliographic records for volume 50 (1990)
forward, which are formatted using MARC 21. At this time, citation
records from volumes 1-49 do not contain sufficiently structured
metadata to generate useful OpenURLs.
Please send any questions about configuring OpenURL access for HLAS
Online to: hlas@xxxxxxx
