FBI Investigates Data Theft At KU
The University of Kansas has brought in the FBI to help track down the
computer hacker that downloaded personal information on 1,450 of its
international students. The information had been collected as part of new
homeland security measures. The breach discovered about noon Wednesday
raised concerns someone might use the information to enter the United
States illegally. The files included such information as Social Security,
passport and university identification numbers, cities and countries of
origin and programs students were taking. "We intend to find out who did
this," said Jeff Lanza of the FBI office in Kansas City, Mo.
