NetDay Speak Up Day For Teachers
Help NetDay reach 10,000 teachers on Speak Up Day. When NetDay sent out the
call for students to Speak Up in October 2003, we learned what 210,000 students
thought about technology and learning. We heard from their teachers that they
wanted a say too. We listened to your call and have created a short online
survey for teachers about their personal and professional use of technology.
Take the Survey Today
The Speak Up Day for Teacher's survey has been extended. The survey will
remain available until May 12. Designed with teacher input, the survey takes
10-15
minutes to complete online and all answers are confidential. See the survey.
Register Your School
A school contact registers your school and sends the school secret word and
survey site to all staff members with instructional responsibilities. Teachers
can complete the survey on their own or during a facilitated discussion or
professional development session.
One School's Plans for Data
Thomas Nemmer of Hamburg Central School District, New York, is using Speak Up
Day to "get an idea of the sense teachers have for what is useful to them in
the classroom." His district has an aging base of technology, limited funds,
and new demands from NCLB. The feedback will help him determine technology
needs and make a case for it.
Why Should My School Participate?
Teachers' voices on technology need to be heard by all decision makers' ”from
the local school district to the state house to the White House. NetDay makes
it easy for every teacher to contribute their ideas and to make a difference
in their school.
NetDay will publish a national report of the findings' ”a companion to Voices
and Views from Today's Tech-Savvy Students: NetDay National Report on Speak Up
Day for Students 2003
Results from Speak Up Day for Teachers will be delivered at national
conferences, press briefings, and to the US Dept of Education, the US Dept of
Commerce, state agencies, organizations, and associations that influence
education
policies and professional development programs for teachers.
Every participating school can view their aggregate data on a
password-protected site after the survey has closed. Schools have used student
data from the
first Speak Up Day to support bond issues, create student planning groups, and
update technology plans.
NetDay challenges you to complete the survey and encourage 5 more teachers or
schools to join you! The more teachers who participate, the better the
information will be for everyone.
Why Speak Up Day?
NetDay created Speak Up Day to give a voice to all stakeholders in the
educational community and to frame a new conversation around education and
technology. Speak Up Day events mobilize thousands of students, teachers and
other
stakeholders to share their ideas about the effective use of technology for
learning. The quality of education for all students is enhanced by these
contributions.
