Subject: [WWWEDU] Educational Website:  The Native American Perspectives

Hello and thank you for allowing me to join this list.  I work with a  group
of people who are dedicating to bringing better understanding of the many
Native American cultures to schools.

Multicultural education lacks readily available materials to help teachers
learn more about the Native perspective of history as well as the Native
influences on the development of this country in general. Because of the
lack of material that is relevant to Native people, many children suffer
racism from overt to institutional.  We believe that bridging those gaps will
help end racism towards Native people.  We have developed a website at
www.racismagainstindians.org that presently encompasses essays, articles and
book excerpts about the world as seen through Native eyes by primarily Native
authors.

In the near future, we will have a complete section on videotapes, seminars,
and curriculum that can be tailored to your individual locations.

See Understanding the Native Perspective for interesting information about Nat
ive people and Indian 101 for teacher's resources.  More resources will be
made available in the near future and the section entitled Racism in
Education will be completed in the next month. Let us know what you think and
what you would like to see made available!
Thanks for your time,
