WOMEN AND GIRLS

**Slip-Sliding Away in School
The National Women's Law Center charges the Bush Administration with actions
and proposals that threaten women's hard-won progress in school, work, the
military and retirement. Despite Title IX's successes in equalizing girls' 
sports
in schools, for example, females at all levels in the education system
continue to face barriers to non-traditional fields of study. Despite repeated
requests, the Department of Education has refused to investigate the pervasive
exclusion of women from traditionally male career education and math and 
science programs.
