Big6 Associates Announces Online Discussion Forum for Educators
1 March 2004 -- Fayetteville, NY. Big6 Associates announces Big6 Forums
(http://www.big6.com/forums/), a new online meeting and discussion area
on the Big6.com website. Big6 Forums contain focused discussions by
Big6 interest area and grade levels K-12.
The Skills -- This section hosts a general Big6 discussion about
teaching and learning the Big6 Skills. Read and discuss how to
implement the Big6 with other teacher librarians and classroom
teachers. Find out who is using the Big6 in their schools. Forum
visitors may share ideas for Big6 best practices, tell new methods that
worked well in the classroom today, or suggest innovations.
Lesson Plans -- The Lesson Plan section is divided into three focus
groups: Kindergarten - Grade 2; Grades 3 - 6; and Grades 7 - 12. Forum
visitors are invited to submit Big6 Lessons to share with other
educators. Lessons may be selected to become part of the main Big6
lesson plan archive.
The Website -- Four sections focus on specific Big6 departments: the
Big6 website, Big6 eNewsletter, Big6 KIDS, and Big6 Forums. The Big6
editors welcome your ideas and popular topics will be considered in
future eNewsletter issues or site upgrades.
Miscellaneous -- Big6ers can mingle here! We wish to encourage a
community spirit among Big6ers. Share your hobbies, interests, or
current events.
The Big6(tm)
Developed by Mike Eisenberg and Bob Berkowitz, the Big6 is the most
widely known and widely used approach to teaching information and
technology skills in the world. Used in thousands of K-12 schools,
higher education institutions, and corporate and adult training
programs, the Big6 information problem-solving model is applicable
whenever people need and use information. The Big6 integrates
information search and use skills along with technology tools in a
systematic process to find, use, apply, and evaluate information to
specific needs and tasks.
