ADMINISTRATORS NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS LEGAL
Does your District Internet Use Policy have provisions
addressing disclosure of student personal information on
your school site?
Do you know the difference between free speech rights
(including expressing viewpoints that administrators and
teachers may not like) and free speech wrongs (ex:
defamation, harassment) and are able to teach your student?

Topic 1: Ten Seconds Into The Future

For 10 seconds on a recent Saturday, NASA made the impossible a reality,
when the hypersonic X-43A scramjet set a new speed record. The technology
demonstrated in the short flight could revolutionize both aviation and space
travel.

K-4
Lesson 1 - What Makes It Work? To identify the parts and functions of a jet
engine.

Lesson 2 - Move It! To learn how an airplane, rocket, or shuttle moves
forward.

5-8
Lesson 1 - Speed Of Sound: To discover that sound travels at different
speeds through different materials, and to estimate the speed of sound
through air.

Lesson 2 - Graphing Aircraft Speeds: To create a bar graph to represent the
average airspeeds of different aircraft.

9-12
Lesson 1 - Turbojet Engine: To demonstrate how a turbojet works.

Lesson 2 - Propelling Payloads Properly: To construct a rocket out of a
balloon and use it to carry a payload vertically.

Topic 2: A Year In Orbit

A new crew will be launching to the International Space Station on Sunday.
One of the crew they will replace is astronaut Mike Foale, who set a new
NASA record for long-duration spaceflight. Here's what he and Expedition 8
cosmonaut Sasha Kaleri had to say about their stay in space.

K-4
Lesson 1 - That's A Long Time! To use long-duration spaceflight information
to create a bar graph.

Lesson 2 - 1,300 Milligrams A Day! To learn the importance of calcium and
daily requirements of it for students.

5-8
Lesson 1 - What's Your Role? To perform a team-building activity, and to
determine the different roles assumed by different team members.

Lesson 2 - Calculating Space Durations: To convert the amounts of time
spent in space by different astronauts into different units of time.

9-12
Lesson 1 - Doing More With Less: To study a group's ability to complete an
activity with differing numbers of students.

Lesson 2 - Skeleton's Music Of Bones: To identify and label the major bones
in the human body and how they are connected.
