Live WebCast: ICT Literacy for All - Essential 21st Century Learning
Strategies

ICT Literacy for All begins with a February 24th kickoff WebCast
featuring Ferdi Serim, author of "Information Technology for Learning:
No School Left Behind", Dr. David Thornburg, author of "From Data to
Understanding: Navigating Informational Spaces in the Age of
Overwhelm", Ellen Nelson, CEO of Decision Development Corporation, the
Partnership for 21st Century Skills, and other guests. The perception
that schools must choose between complying with NCLB and expanding
their goals to incorporate 21st Century Skills is fallacious: 21st
Century Skills are required for schools to succeed in shifting to
evidence based practice. ICT Literacy (the ability to choose and use
the right technology for the task) is crucial for both teachers and
students. For over 20 years, educators have been told *what* to do, and
*why* it is important, without ever being guided in *how* to make it
happen. The "thinking and learning skills" (learning how to learn) are
key, yet often overlooked by administrators, educators and parents. In
actuality, schools rarely address learning skills where technology
could play a critical role. Panelists will discuss 21st Century ICT
learning strategies that move beyond looking at technology as
"computers" to the potential for massively distributed learning
systems, one in which the networks connected learn about each other,
while the people using them do the same. This event launches a series
of professional development WebCasts that prepares education leaders to
connect vision with practice, in order to connect technology
investments with student achievement. Visit www.ictliteracy.info to
register. HURRY, REGISTRATION IS FREE. SEATS ARE LIMITED.
