On May 6-7, the National Research Council will host a two-day workshopin
Washington, D.C. on the design of K-12 science assessment systems. Duringthe
workshop, models of high-quality science assessment systems will bepresented,
and attendees will be asked to provide comment and offer suggestions onhow to
improve the assessment designs. The National Academy of Sciences'Committee on
Test Design for K-12 Science Achievement will then use the suggestionsand
revised designs in shaping its guidance and in the recommendations itplans to
make in a final report to states.
(States must begin mandatory science assessments under No ChildLeft Behind
in 2007-08.) The workshop is open to the public, but space is limited,and
registration will be on a first come, first served basis. For acopy of the
