Subject: HIT: One good presidential election website
Thanks for all of the excellent responses! I may end up posting a few
links on our website rather than just one as I originally intended.

Original post:
I am looking for one good website covering the presidential election that
I could post on our media center's homepage. One that students can go to
keep updated on what is going on. What is your recommendation? Thanks in
advance!

Profiles of presidential candidates for the 2004 election, as well
as individuals who only thought about running and those who
withdrew. Offers brief political biographies, analysis, and links
to candidate and party Web sites for Republicans, Democrats,
candidates from other parties, and independents. From an attorney
and former campaign consultant who has "worked rather hard to keep
this site as non-partisan, unbiased and fair to all as possible."

We use the CNN site

C-Span has a great web site for educators. Go to their home page to find
it. I signed up for the campaign stuff and now they send me e-mail updates
about campaign coverage. It's super.

Here is a great election website. Hope this helps

Channelone.com has good student-friendly information.

The following website is one that I have been watching for current
presidential election information. Hope it helps!

This doesn't keep the issues current, but is a fun site for the kids.
Our students like it!
Students can vote their issues and it matches them with a presidential
candidate.

"How This Works
Take a stand on some of the major issues facing our nation.
You don't have to answer every question - you can just answer the ones
that are important to you. The sum of your answers will determine the best
candidate for you.
The questions were devised in consulation with TIME and the answers were
compiled by TIME and the candidates' campaigns. Once the primary
elections
have concluded, we'll add third-party candidates to President Match."

I don't think to be 'fair and balanced' you could pick just one. How about
a selection?
NPR.org, Nyt.com, news.pacificnews.org, washingtonpost.com, cnn.com,
news.bbc.co.uk, foxnews.com, guardian.co.uk, telegraph.co.uk. Also, major
mags like time, newsweek, usnews, atlantic, harpers, american
prospect,prospect.org, tnr.com Probably more leaning to the left sites in
that list than completely fair and balanced.
There is Project Vote Smart (vote-smart.org)with good links to info like
speeches. They even cover the candidate for the National Barking Spider
Resurgence Party, so fairly comprehensive.
c-span.org has the 2004 Vote section as well as good set of links to other
sources.
If you have access to Ebsco, you can do a search for candidate name or issue
with some limiters and get a persistent link to post. It searches ebsco with
the same exact search each time. Easy way to keep current.
