"Crafting Freedom: Thomas Day & Elizabeth Keckly, Black Artisans and
Entrepreneurs in the Making of America," An NEH Landmarks in American History
Workshop
The Thomas Day Education Project (TDEP), a national education project, is
offering expenses-paid five-day residential workshops for teachers and media
center educators, with a special recruitment of teams of interdisciplinary
educators. Workshops feature presentations by scholars of African American
history,
Master classroom teachers, and tours to sites rich in 19th century black
history and culture. There are four sessions: June 18th - 23rd , June 25th-30th
,
July 16th - 21st , and July 23rd-28th. Participants recieve $500 stipend and up
to $300 travel stipend. This opportunity is made possible through a Landmarks
of American History grant to the North Carolina Museum of History (NCMH) from
the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)
