In light of the conflict in Iraq, I thought readers could use
resources to help deal with the subject with their students.

Time for Kids is an Internet newsmagazine for kids with resources
for teachers. It has up-to-date news on the Iraq situation that
kids will understand. In its section for teacher, educators will
find complete resources for K-1, 2-3, and 4-6 with a PDF
teacher's guide, printable resources and the magazine online.

Under the teacher's section, there is a useful resource for
parents on how to deal with their child's fear of war and
terrorism. It's got a wonderful news-ticker with up to the
second news about the current conflict.

Weekly Reader is also covering the war in Iraq in a way kids
can understand. It offers up-to-date news with classroom
resources for teachers.

Newsround from the BBC has a question and answer
section (choose the Find Out section, then choose Iraq Crisis)
that gives concise answers on why both the U.S. and England
have chosen to fight. Click around the rest of the site for
some wonderful resources.

Channel One gives students an interactive map and a question
and answer page about the war. Hang on to this link, as this
news site for teens is an invaluable resource for current
events. Teens will love the quizzes, contests, the student
exchange section and feature stories.

Homeplanet is devoted to striving toward world peace. In its
educational resources section it give numerous helps, full
lesson plans and games to teach peace to students. This is
excellent for helping with the school bully as well as talking
about war and peace with students.

This column is to answer questions about homeschooling and to
find links that teachers need for lesson plans or class projects.

Hopefully, if all goes according to plan with Ed-links, I'll have my
web-page up and running by the end of summer, with a section on
it for Educational Links which will help you connect with the
newsletter and give you more resources. Send me questions and
suggestions. And, above all, send this to your friends and co-workers.

Spread the word,
Emily
