Subject: Call for Egyptian elementary school email exchange

From: "Hess, Andrew" <Hess@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Connect your class in an email exchange project with American third grade
classes!

Overview: I am coordinating an email exchange for several third grade
classes in four elementary schools in a small town outside New York City,
and we are currently looking for several classes in Egypt that would like to
participate in this exchange.

The third grade here will soon be beginning a unit studying the lifestyle,
society, culture, and geography of Egypt. As part of this unit, they will be
corresponding with classes in Egypt, generating their own questions and
learning first-hand about life there. Their email will focus on general
social categories, including: climate, food, clothing, shelter, religion,
and geography.

As part of the exchange, they will also share similar information about life
here, based on the email from your class with what they want to know. The
particulars of the exchange are very flexible and can match the needs of
your class. For example, our classes will send one email at a time, written
by the whole class. You class could do the same, or send individual emails.
The timeframe is flexible, and your class does not need to be a third grade
class.

This project offers a rich opportunity for your class to learn first-hand
about life in another country and to share what they know with others. As
coordinator of the project, I will be taking care of the planning and
logistics, leaving you to share in, and enjoy, the email exchange with your
class.

Timeframe: Flexible, but soon, preferably starting in early March and
lasting four to six weeks.

Requirements: Classes will be expected to send a minimum of one email per
week (more is welcome!). Teachers will also be expected to email each other
short feedback on the progress of the exchange at least once a week.

Next Step: Email me (hess@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) with a short description of your
class and any other information we should know that will help your
participation in this email exchange. And feel free to email me with any
questions you have about the email exchange. That's it!

Best,
