LITERACY FROM HOME LANGUAGE TO THE STANDARD

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE IMPROVING
LITERACY THROUGH SCHOOL LIBRARIES PROGRAM The Department of Education
announced today that the application package for the 2005 Improving Literacy
Through School Libraries program competition is now available. Application

Approximately 19 million dollars will be available for funding, and an
estimated 100 grants will be awarded under this competition. The
deadline for applications this year is March 14, 2005.
Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)
WASHINGTON, DC -The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), in
conjunction with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), has released
guidelines for the Partnership for a Nation of Learners (PNL) Community
Collaboration Grants. The program is designed to support new and existing
lifelong learning collaborations between museums, libraries, and public
broadcasters with grants that range from $25,000 to $250,000. These
collaborations will result in a range of projects that enhance learning in
communities across the country. Grant applications are due on March 1, 2005,
and grant awards will be made in September 2005. Guidelines are available at
