Chris Abele has won the race for Milwaukee County Executive, defeating
Republican Jeff Stone handily on Tuesday. The position was previously held
by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R), whose controversial anti-union law
has sharply divided the state.

Abele won more than 60% of the vote.
.
Abele used the recent controversy surrounding Walker to build support for
his campaign. The Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel reports that "he
[Abele] put much of his advertising firepower into trying to fuse Stone
with Gov. Scott Walker and his controversial push to end most collective
bargaining for public employees."

Some observations about an exciting political night in Wisconsin:
.
Scott Walker couldn't get elected dog-catcher these days in Milwaukee
County. Hopefully, the rest of the state was paying attention. The voters
most familiar with Gov. Walker's policies from his years as county
executive have rejected him soundly in last year's governor's race and
last night's county exec race. (No, Walker wasn't on the ballot but Walker
2.0 was.)

Depending on how the WIs Supreme Court turns out - still too close to call
- Walker might have to drastically scale back his vision of turning
Wisconsin into a red state. Apparently, some voters still like blue.

Like the hotly contested Wisconsin Supreme Court race, the states two
largest county executive races seemed to be a referendum on the policies
of Governor Scott Walker.

Philanthropist Chris Abele gained 61-percent of the vote over Assembly
Republican Jeff Stone to claim the final year of Walkers Milwaukee County
Executive term.
.
At his victory gathering, Abele said citizens of the countys 19
municipalities were all concerned of the status quo, If there was one
constant through this campaign it was the need for change.

Stone said his loss reflects the divide we have in Wisconsin right now.
.
State Assembly Democrat Joe Parisi easily won the Dane County executives
race with 70-percent of the vote over County Supervisor Eileen Bruskewitz.
Parisi said his victory is a message from voters that we dont things in
the Dane County the Scott Walker way, we do things the Dane County way.
