When seven current and former employees of Goldman Sachs Lloyd Blankfein,
its chief executive, and Fabrice Tourre, a French trader at the firm,
among them appear before a Senate committee on Tuesday, there is a danger
that the hearing will become consumed with grandstanding and
headline-grabbing hectoring.
For past missteps to be avoided again, a more thoughtful inquisition is
called for. Here are three possible icebreakers that the senators may
consider posing:
