Hewlett-Packard makes Hong Kong library
sale

San Francisco Business Times - by Steven E.F. Brown
Hewlett-Packard Co. signed a 10-year contract with the Hong Kong
government for public library technology.

Palo Alto-based HP (NYSE: HPQ) didn’t give a price in the deal, which it made through its enterprise services unit, formerly Electronic Data Systems of Plano, Texas.

Under this program, HP will create and support an “integrated library system” for Hong Kong’s public libraries. The technology used, from VTLS Inc. in Blacksburg, Va., includes radiofrequency ID tracking of library books as they’re checked in and out of the library.
