01. KEYNDICATE tells you if your CapsLock, NumLock, and ScrollLock keys are
off or on. I wonder, couldn't you just look? Otherwise, download free at
http://softwarespot.wordpress.com/software/keyndicate/ .

02. CLOUDFOGGER is for you if you use Dropbox, Box.net, SkyDrive or other
cloud storage and want to encrypt and secure your files. Download free at
http://cloudfogger.com/en/download/index.aspx .

03. MITEC TASK MANAGER DELUXE duplicates what the Windows Task Manager does
but adds more enhancements. It reveals processes, services, sessions,
autoruns, and system information and performance. It is portable and needs no
installation. Download free at http://www.mitec.cz/tmx.html .

04. GENDER GUESSER at http://www.hackerfactor.com/GenderGuesser.php takes
writing samples and then renders a guess as to the author's gender. I've heard
it was fairly accurate but tells me I am a weak female, alas.

Now, tell me, is all the following worth 50 cents to you? A natural-sounding
text-to-speech system translating text from 52 languages; an application that
places more useful commands in the right-click Explorer window; a free service
that lets you fill forms, sign them, and send them without software; create
reminders and send them by text, email, or phone; manage hardware and system
power management of your notebook to control its battery life and temperature;
capture your screen, process the image, and share the file; rename multiple
files and folders simultaneously; watch, pause, and schedule viewing and
playback of music, videos, and photos; open more than 100 file types that
otherwise pose problems; use a set of tools that will play all popular audio
and video formats; view entire browser history and access links; learn what
HDRI is and how it makes better images; read software mini-reviews, visit
interesting sites, learn tekkie tips, and more, including our mailbag with
always interesting readers' comments.

That's just some of the useful stuff Premium subscribers receive twice monthly
in their mailbox; and, it's delivered graphics-rich and ad-free. Check it out
at http://www.neatnettricks.com/store .

05. AUTOHIDE MOUSE CURSOR fits more in the "department of useless software" or
so it seems. It hides the mouse cursor when it becomes annoying, but I have to
ask "when's the last time your cursor annoyed you?" If you see a value, it's a
free download at
http://www.softwareok.com/?seite=Microsoft/AutoHideMouseCursor/ .

06. MYKEYFINDER locates all your serial numbers in a single click and can
export the information to a PDF file and print or copy them to clipboard.
Invalid and duplicate numbers are removed in the process. Download free at
http://www.abelssoft.net/mykeyfinder.php .

07. CAPTURE, ANNOTATE, AND SHARE. The name tells it all: capture any visible
part, region, or whole page of a Web site, crop it and annotate it with
rectangles, circles, arrows, lines, and text and erase sensitive information
with the blur tool, and upload it and get a link that can be shared on Twitter,
Facebook, email, etc. Download free at http://awesomescreenshot.com/ .

08. CLIPLETS. They aren't still photos or video but something in between.
For Windows 7, Microsoft has developed a way to mix static and dynamic elements
from a video clip and it's a free download at
http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/cliplets/ .

09. ORDER IN MY FOLDER archives and reorders files from a single folder into
subfolders based on different file sorting logics. Download free at
http://leelusoft.blogspot.com/2012/02/order-in-my-folder-13.html .
