The Museum of Science has asked me to update ther announcement of
their Summer Program that I e-mailed to the list-serve earlier today.
As follows:
We wanted to clarify how the reading specialist position is slightly
different than the rest of the teacher in residence opportunities.
Science in Literacy: Elementary Reading Specialist
The Museum of Science is developing a program to map our nonfiction
elementary science books (the largest in New England) to elementary
science curriculum and reading levels. Our intent is to use our
collection to develop a program to enable elementary teachers to
embed science topics in English Language Arts programming. The
outputs of the Summer Residency will include the collection mapping
and a strong team role in the development of the program.
We also wanted to highlight that only those with a working knowledge
of the Massachusetts Literarcy Standards and the Mass Science
Frameworks should apply, such as literacy specialistis, school
librarians, and/or media specialists.
Kind Regards
