American Chemical Society Legislative Action Alert

Dear Legislative Action Network member:

If you have not done so, please link to

http://www.chemistry.org/government/lac
<http://www.congressweb.com/t/l/?IBVIALLFJHEOHQR> and contact your U.S.
Representative by May 8 urging him/her to co-sponsor the Partnerships for
Access to Laboratory Science (PALS) Act (HR 5106). This legislation would
improve hands-on laboratory science capabilities at the high-school
level--especially in high-need schools--by creating public-private
partnerships through NSF.

The House of Representatives is now considering proposals to respond to the
challenges posed to future U.S. competitiveness in the rapidly evolving
global economy. Clearly, if the U.S. is to keep up with global competitors,
we must step up our investment in math and science education.

We recommend that you ask your legislator to co-sponsor the PALS Act. The
more co-sponsors the legislation attracts, the greater the chances that the
bill will gain momentum for passage in the House.

Your letters make a difference. Just link to

http://www.chemistry.org/government/lac

Thank you for your help in this critical effort.
