MAST

Mass Association of Science Teachers

Elaine Adams Professional Development Award

Solicitation of Applicants

All current dues paying members of MAST are eligible to apply for the Elaine
Adams Professional Development Award, established in memory of Elaine Adams,
chemistry teacher at Phillips Academy and one of the four founders of the
former Science Teachers Area Resource Swap (STARS).

Elaine provided an example for others by being willing to try challenging
new projects that would broaden her and enhance what she already offered her
students. Elaine also encouraged others to follow suit. Consequently, the
award, up to $500, is given to an applicant who proposes pursuing a venture
that is interesting and new for themselves and that has the potential to be
of use/value for their students and science education. Recipients are
required to present at the MAST Conference the following year.
