Program Overview
Join leading educators from K-12 and higher
education to explore revolutionary ideas and
best practices for integrating green building
into curriculum. The 2008 USGBC Educators Summit
will connect educators exploring topics such as
climate change and sustainability. Attendees
will share stories about their efforts to
prepare students as the next generation of green
leaders. During interactive, breakout sessions,
attendees will share successes, address hurdles,
and explore solutions. Attendees are presented
with new tools and resources for using the built
environment as the context for teaching. The
summit includes lunch, followed by an optional
afternoon tour or workshop to delve deeper into
the issues. See below for more information about
these opportunities. Spaces will be filled on a
first come first served basis.
Who Should Attend?
The Educators Summit will be geared towards
educators, school leaders, and representatives
from organizations actively supporting
curriculum implementation in schools and on
campuses. Attendees may choose to register for
and attend the Greenbuild 2008 conference on
Wednesday and Thursday, November 19 and 20,
however this is not required. Registration for
the Educators Summit will be limited to 300
attendees.

Optional Afternoon Sessions ñ Extend the day by
registering for an afternoon session. Space
restrictions indicated below; registration
required and will be served on a first come,
first served basis.
Sustainable Campus Tour
Get a firsthand look at the effect the Harvardís
Green Campus Initiative is having on the
institution's culture and sustainability
efforts. This walking tour will include stops
at: 10 Akron St, a graduate residence hall,
Blackstone Building, Rockefeller Hall, and
Dunster Mather Kitchen. Tour will leave by bus
from Boston Convention Center and return by 5:00
PM.

Interpreting Green Building for a Youth Audience
Boston Childrenís Museum recently achieved LEED
Gold Certification for its renovation and
expansion. At the same time they create their
biggest exhibit everóthe building itself! Tour
the facility, then join us for some activities
and a brainstorming session about using a
building as a teaching tool for kids and
grown-ups alike. Tour will leave from
Renaissance Hotel and include a short walk to
the museum.

Integration now: Tools and ideas for jump starting curriculum reorientation
Work with master educator Deb Rowe and USGBC
staff to dive into curriculum reorientation
toward green building and sustainability. Learn
more about USGBCís Green Education Database and
ways to stay connected with educators following
the Summit through virtual meet-ups and regional
institutes. Workshop participants will explore
methods for moving from building awareness to
developing understanding and encouraging their
students to take action.
