The Department of Natural Sciences at Quinsigamond Community College in
Worcester (MA) is looking for adjunct faculty to teach lecture and lab
sections of a new Science of Technology course in Spring 2009.

The two-course pair are titled "Science of Technology: Vision and Light"
and "Science of Technology: Hearing and Sound". The audience is
non-majors filling a lab science requirement, and the courses are designed
to help students learn how science and engineering dovetail to make things
in their everyday lives work, such as lasers, radar guns, microwave ovens,
cellphones, speakers, light bulbs, AC circuits, and so on, all without a
level of math that would intimidate the typical community college student.
Sample course syllabi are available upon request, and a packet of sample
labs have been developed.

We would only offer one of the two courses in the Spring, and likely only
one section to start off with, but we would definitely expand in
subsequent semesters. We are looking for one individual to teach both the
lecture and lab section of the course. Salary is per the MCCC/MTA
contract (http://www.mccc-union.org/dcecontract.htm).

For further information about the course or to apply you may contact the
course developer, Andria Schwortz, or the QCC Dean of Human Services and
Science, Nancy Schoenfeld.
