High School Physics Teacher position
The Greater Hartford Academy of Mathematics and Science in Hartford
is seeking a physics teacher with a love of physics and teaching.
The Academy is a half day math and science magnet school where
students from 30 school districts come for specialized courses.
Freshman and Sophomores attend the Academy in the morning and take
foundational courses in physics, earth science, chemistry, and
biology, along with the appropriate mathematics. Juniors and Seniors
attend the Academy in the afternoon and take specialized courses
across the entire spectrum of sciences. The course offerings are
based on the interests and expertise of the instructors. Courses
taught in physics have included Classical Mechanics (AP Physics C),
Electricity and Magnetism (AP Physics C), Electronics, Photonics,
Robotics, Thermodynamics and Fluids, and Nuclear Chemistry and
Physics.
The faculty has a strong tradition of collegiality, equity,
differentiation, and experimentation. If you love science and
teaching, then this is the place for you. We are looking for a full
time physics instructor to join our team of professionals.
Responsibilities would include two sections of Foundations in
Physics in the morning session and two afternoon physics courses per
semester to be determined based on the individuals professional
interests and experience. Salaries are very competitive and based on
an extended day contract.
