Summer 2008
Program Description: Upward Bound Math Science at Boston University
is a program serving 50 Boston and Chelsea Public High School
Students by providing academic instruction, tutoring, social
enrichment and personal support. Students participate in both a
six-week summer residential program and an after school component.

Position Available: Computer Science Instructor for Summer Program
Description: The Computer Science instructor is responsible for
teaching one or more sections of Computer Science during a six-week
summer program for college-bound Boston Public High School students.
Each section meets for fifty minutes two days per week on the Boston
University campus. The instructor is expected to develop and
implement course curriculum, provide written evaluations of
students' performance, monitor one afternoon of study hall, and
attend weekly staff meetings.
The position is part time. Program dates are June 22, 2008 through
August 1, 2008
Educational
Requirements: Minimum Bachelors degree (Masters
preferable) in Computer Science, Information Technology,
Engineering, Science Education or Liberal Arts with a computer
science concentration and certification or teaching experience in
appropriate content area.
Required
Experience: Minimum two years' teaching experience in
Massachusetts or other comparable school system. Applicants must
possess an understanding of the needs of disadvantaged youth and
creativity to respond to student learning needs with innovative
ideas and approaches. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
Salary: $22 an hour, plus prep-time
