[ncsc-moths] Moth with Red Spot

Hi Folks,

The attached photo is a moth that has me stumped. I photographed at the
woodland edge in Guilford County at about 3:15 in the afternoon on May 15th.
It was approximately one inch or slightly larger from wingtip to wingtip.
The red spot is throwing me off. The photo isn't sharp enough to tell for
sure if it's part of the moth or something else such as a mite. (This is a
cropped telephoto shot, not a macro.) Can anyone help with an ID?
