Hi Jean, Bryozoa colonies are not green - old colonies, such as the one you "pic" often become greenish from th buildup of algae. Their food gathering organ, the lophophore, is similar to that of the Brachiopods, shell-like organisms that have been around since the Paleozoic. A rather interesting, albeit, overlooked group of amazing animals. Hope this helps! It's a gelatinous mass, greenish in color. Some are as big as 15 inches or so diameter, and at least half that in depth. They are usually clustered around a stick or weed in the shallow areas of the river. BTW, does your mammal list include humans?LOL Jean
