[ncolug] Ubuntu 10.10 question

All,
I think I found out what is wrong with the header issues on my laptop (4G RAM) with kernel 2.6.31-22, this is a Karmic kernel not Maverick which I upgraded to from 9.10 to 10.04LTS to 10.10 all via the update manager over a few weeks. What do you suggest be done? Update does not load new headers/kernels. I am having huge issues trying to run Virtualbox also.
