Sure. Have you got a key?

Yes, the license key is on the bottom of my laptop. (I actually have 2 valid Home Edition licenses and 1 Pro license... You should pity me.)
If I get a CD, then I'm not sure I'm going to do the whole P2V thang... though it might be an interesting experience...

Howdy folks!

We touched on this subject at the meeting, so I thought I'd share what I found.
Converting a running Windows XP system to a Virtual Machine is called P2V - as in Physical to Virtual.
There are many sites that have information on P2V; here's one that outlines 6 different methods to do P2V:
http://www.4sysops.com/archives/p2v-for-vmware-six-ways-to-convert-physical-to-virtual/

Of those 6 methods, it seems that the NTBackup method seems to be the best suited for my purposes. Here's a site that discusses it in more detail:
http://www.vmware.com/community/message.jspa?messageID=439132
However, this methods requires the user to create a new Windows XP virtual machine, which requires a bootable Windows CD... and there's the rub. I don't have a bootable Windows XP CD. If I did I could just blow away the XP installation on my Laptop and start with a clean Virtual Machine.

So. Does anyone have a bootable Windows XP Home Edition CD that I can use?

Chuck
