A Microtik router (free download) using a standard PIII and standard 100TX
NICs will blow away almost any low end proprietary hardware firewall.
-Monowall too
My point was, these "hardware" firewalls are just small under powered
computers running firewall SOFTWARE on an OS. Of course having a separate box
to handle routing and security is a good idea, especially if you have a LAN. I
recommend using a DMZ with an IDS too.
I also know first hand how incapable and under powered Linksys routers are
when you are doing more than connecting a few users to the Internet. I'll have
to tell you sometime.
My experience = If you want a router that can handle more, save up your money
or build your own.
